Completed this heat pump installation in Oakland in March 2026. The home had an older gas furnace located in an extremely tight attic, so this was not a simple equipment swap. Because there was almost no clearance for the new air handler, we had to get creative with both the equipment placement and the condensate drainage design to make the system fit properly while still keeping it serviceable and reliable. This install took about five days to complete. One of the most important parts of any heat pump installation is making sure the refrigerant circuit is fully moisture-free before charging the system. Moisture inside the lines can react with refrigerant and oil, leading to acid formation, poor performance, and premature compressor failure. That step is not just a technical detail. It is a major part of what determines whether the system will last. This Oakland project is a good example of why difficult attic installs require more than just getting the equipment into place. The layout, drainage, fit, and commissioning all have to be done correctly for the system to perform the way it should.
